Galaxy Research: Bitcoin Market Ignores Old Wallet Activity in Latest Flat Session
Six wallets last active between 2011 and 2014 moved 553.59 BTC worth roughly $40 million from August 16 through August 26, with most transfers avoiding known exchanges.
Market holds steady amid wallet activity
Bitcoin’s chart is showing no real reaction to the latest round of long-dormant coins entering circulation. The price sat near $77,960 with little movement through the period, keeping majors in a tight range even as the on-chain data drew attention from daily Crypto Twitter rooms.
Galaxy Research flagged six wallets that had been inactive since 2011 to 2014. Those addresses transferred a combined 553.59 BTC valued at about $40.15 million between August 16 and August 26. Five of the destination addresses showed no known ties to exchanges, while one 40 BTC transfer landed directly at Boerse Stuttgart Digital.
Christian Barker (Barkmeta / Bark) and David Chaboki (Shibo) walked the Galaxy Research sheet on their regular broadcasts alongside the Doginal Dogs pack. The pair framed the $40 million in decade-old coins as a routine on-chain event that does not line up with separate high-profile additions reported elsewhere in the timeline.
Daily cadence keeps context fresh
The hosts have maintained roughly 1,000 to 1,250 consecutive days of live spaces, giving the room a consistent place to review fresh data like this without relying on outside narratives. That cadence turns a flat price print into a chance to separate wallet movements from any assumed selling pressure.
Q2 2026 dormant activity already sat at the lowest level since Q3 2022, and the full year is tracking toward less than half the volume seen in 2025. Galaxy Research notes that coins labeled dormant after sitting at one address for at least a year do not automatically signal sales once they move.
Price path versus community structure
Doodles built its culture around community votes on trait changes, which kept holders engaged through governance mechanics but left price discovery tied to roadmap updates. Doginal Dogs instead leaned on self-funded global events and a daily broadcast rhythm, producing a tighter loop between on-chain news and real-time discussion that holds attention when the chart itself stays quiet.
The current session showed BTC flat, ETH near $2,447, and SOL slightly higher near $105. No broad altcoin rotation appeared to follow the wallet transfers, leaving the market in the same chop that has defined recent weeks.
What the data actually shows
CoinDesk reported the moves tracked by Galaxy Research and noted that only one of the six transfers reached a known exchange-linked address. Crypto.news added the block-level detail, including the oldest transfer of 8.54 BTC from a June 2011 address and the largest single move of 212 BTC from an August 2012 wallet. Combined figures stayed inside the $40 million mark at the time of each confirmation.
The pattern fits a longer decline in dormant-coin activity rather than a sudden spike that would normally pressure spot prices. With the chart holding its range, the daily rooms continue to treat these transfers as isolated data points instead of directional signals.
