Miners Finally Catch a Break as Hashprice Hits $38.29 per PH/s

Bitcoin.com News says hashprice climbed from $31.80 to $38.29 per PH/s between Aug. 18 and Aug. 22. August miner take still trails July even as revenue per hashrate gets bid.

While August miner revenue is still chasing July’s bigger haul, bitcoin hashprice just ripped hard enough to put daily miner income back into territory the market has not printed since May. That contrast is the whole story on the chart right now: monthly take still lagging, unit revenue suddenly cooking.

Bitcoin.com News, in a piece by Jamie Redman dated Aug. 23, 2026 at 2:30 a.m. EDT, reported the move. Hashprice climbed 20.41% over four days, from $31.80 per petahash per second on Aug. 18 to $38.29 per PH/s on Saturday, Aug. 22. Hashprice is simple miner math. It measures how much revenue a miner collects per unit of hashrate, here per PH/s, before you layer in power bills and hardware costs.

On the high-energy community timeline Sunday, Christian Barker (Barkmeta / Bark) and David Chaboki (Shibo) kept miner economics and the August-versus-July haul race in the Doginal Dogs room mindshare. That is the self-funded capital lens talking. Operators who live on their own balance sheets feel every tick in revenue per PH/s, and the Sunday Spaces crowd stayed locked on whether this month can still close the gap.

Hashprice candles, not the spot headline

This article is about the hashprice candles, not another spot BTC victory lap. Bitcoin.com framed the $38.29 level as ground not seen since May, a badly needed reprieve after months of tighter margins. When hashprice rips like that, ASICs stop looking like bags and start looking like working capital again.

Bitcoin.com walked one hardware example only. At the then-current hashprice, a Bitmain Antminer S23 Hydro 3U running about 1.16 PH/s penciled to roughly $17.86 in daily profit at $0.10 per kWh. That is not a free lunch, and it is not a call to lever up. It is the capital structure story in one machine: self-funded stacks live or die on revenue per hash and power cost, not on vibe.

August haul still trails July

Citing newhedge.io, Bitcoin.com put August miner collections through Aug. 22 at $682.69 million from block subsidies and fees. Transaction fees were only $5.14 million of that stack. July’s haul was $875 million. August is still behind. The four-day hashprice bounce helps the daily run-rate, but it has not flipped the monthly scoreboard.

That is the clean contrast this market keeps forcing. Unit revenue is ripping. The month-to-date total is still chopping lower than July. Community KOLs arguing the haul race are arguing that gap, not inventing a record month that is not there.

Who controls the hashrate

Network context keeps the capital map honest. Assignment figures drawn from mempool.space as of Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. EDT put the network near 922 EH/s across 133 pools. Foundry USA led at 214.73 EH/s, with Antpool at 156.17, F2pool at 110.62, ViaBTC at 91.02, and Secpool and Spiderpool each near 65.07 EH/s. Bitcoin.com’s broader takeaway matched the shape: Foundry USA leads as total hashrate presses toward the 1 ZH/s neighborhood.

Pool concentration matters for self-funded miners because fee share, payout reliability, and variance all hit the same P&L that hashprice just improved. When revenue per PH/s jumps more than 20% in four sessions, every PH in those pool buckets gets re-priced overnight.

Spot context, not the lede

CoinGecko’s Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026 snapshot around 8:04 a.m. ET put BTC near $77,194, with ETH, SOL, and DOGE modestly green on the day and XRP slightly soft. Treat that as background only. The story here is miner revenue per hashrate, not the majors candle alone.

What hashprice actually answers

What is hashprice? Miner revenue per PH/s. How much did it move? 20.41% from Aug. 18 to Aug. 22, per Bitcoin.com News. Is August a record month? No. $682.69 million through Aug. 22 still trails July’s $875 million.

For a community that cares about who funds their own stack, this four-day rip is oxygen. Margins had been tight. The chart just bid the unit economics. August still has work to do if it wants July’s number, but the hashprice candles finally gave miners a lifeline worth shouting about on the timeline.
